Spring time in Swedish Lapland

Every week the there is another 40 minutes of sunlight.
Already in the end of May, there is no darkness at all.
Few places with infrastructure can offer these extreme variations...!

Late summer days

The summer seems to never give up - this september is actually warmer than the beginning of July!

Market day A-smällen

Today the annual street market take place in Arvidsjaur. Later in the evening, music and artists will occupie the nearby festival place!

Old friends for visit

Today we got visit from old friends, regulary visiting Arvidsjaur; Caspar & Boscha from Germany. They are a bit special, since they bring their own snowmobile from Germany in their van! Caspar says there is only one snowmobile dealer in Germany, and therefore it is no regular rules for snowmobiling in Germany. But they like Arvidsjaur, and come and stay a few weeks every winter, doing excursions in the sourroundings of Arvidsjaur and in the region. Welcome!

The blue hour

Thanks to the ice crystals in the air, and the low standing sun a unique blue polar light is seen almost every morning and afternoon this time of year in Lapland.

Everyone talks about the weather...

A road in the woods near Abborrträsk

Northern light maximum

Photo: Jerry Porsbjer
There will be an abundance of northern light in the year 2012-13. This is because we are closing in on an aurora maximum, which should occur in April according to current science. Jerry "Magnum" Porsbjer, Aurora photographer, is looking forward to this!
You can see more of his beautiful pictures here: www.magnumphoto.se . Dont miss the facebook page!

Unlikely encounter at Academy of Swedish Lapland!

Peter Manner, probably the least computer and videogame interested person in the universe, landed in the same picture as Tejbz! I just wish I had a recorded conversation to add here :)

Through the office window glass

I'm looking at this enchanting view at the moment :) I hope the snow stays!

Auction in the ice hall today.

The next auction is in the village of Utterliden coming Sunday!

We got an unexpected visitor when we had loaded up with new summerbroschures at the tourist office. You are also welcome!

In the dusty archives

I was looking for good fishing pictures when I suddenly came up with these:

A positive outlook is essential when flyfishing close to tall trees!

A sure sign of spring

When you see one capercaillie after another along the gravel roads it is a sure sign that spring is here!
