The spring has arrived...

At last the reindeers has arrived from the coast! The other day we went to the Arvidsjaur lake to watch the annual reindeer migration in the beautiful weather.

2012 - The year of the northern lights?

The forecast says that the northern light will increase in frequency the next coming years. Already this autnum the photographer Jerry MagnuM Porsbjer caught a fantastic northern light in the small village of Moskosel 40 km north of Arvidsjaur. Jerry says that he managed to catch the amazing event around eleven o´clock a windy October evening. He says also that this is the strongest northern light he have ever seen. And it contained the very rare blue color!

A junk blog

-You cant put trash where it's already clean! We've finally gotten around to cleaning the Tourist office which has been looking more like a trash heap than a well ordered visitor's centre lately. With hair on end and despair in our hearts we've been cleaning like crazy. Sack after sack of junk has been carried out and Peter has had to part with many of the dear papers from the turn of last century. Half a ton of trash later we can breathe by the computer. Here are some pictures from the purgatory called cleaning:

Reivo forest reserve

Reivo is Swedens largest forest reserve below the Scandinavian mountain chain. Animals like royal eagle, bear, wolwerine, owl, moose, reindeer, beaver and many more make their home here. Trees older than 600 years can be found. In the western part a big fire occured 1966, nowdays known as the "the burnt forest". The oldest human traces date back 8.600 years. The area has been suggested as Swedens next national park. Hiking & fishing. A few cottages and boats can be hired, call 0046 (0)960 137 20.

Spring Market

On Thursday 8th april until saturday 10th april will be the Spring market here in Arviudsjaur. This market ist every year at the same time. You can buy things for fishing, CD's, clothes and also something to eat. This year is the 25th anniversary!

The market is open every day and closed in the evening. We hope you enjoy it.
