A reindeer has moved in!

He is grazing calmly...

...when I jump out with the camera.

He tried to escape, but after a whistle from me he posed like this!
Something new
Every day I learn something new, and today I learned something particularly useful: A new quick way to edit pictures in photoshop. It looks like dust has been cleaned from the pictures, and it only took a minute...

Wednesday: A hero's tale
But after drying in the Tourist Office for half a day it came alive again...it is a true hero!

The hero-camera

The lake

Nice path by the lake
Tuesday: The old rectory
I had a brilliant idea this morning! Why not go to the old rectory (local museum) and take some pictures with the morning sun, I thought. As usual, the result was less than perfect, the sun disappeared the minute I got there...
On the way...the water was unbelieveably clear today.
The clouds closed in.
It is a very nice area, with a stage and everything.
Morning in Arvidsjaur

On the way from the Tourist Office to Nyborgstjärn

A wet dog, after walking around the wole lake I couldn't resist throwing him in the water...
Interesting vehicles

The rouge AC

The staff at the Tourist office in Arvidsjaur had some problems with an air conditioning on nThursday; it wouldn't stop blowing. It was full storm and papers were flying all over the place. Because of the cold winds you had to were a hat, but since they didn't have one they had to use whatever they could find. The result is evident in the picture below:

"A-smällen"

A lot of people gathered at "A-smällen" which, this year, took place at "Östra skolgatan"

"Candy-rain", popular among the children

Sweet music from some "singing-birds" in hats

A tuff vacation

This is Åke Svensson , who started on his bike in Klippan in Skåne,
and has now reached Arvidsjaur. He has gone almost 2000 kilometres in ten days.

This is the list of how far he has come every day.
Fishing on Storavan...

A fine pike!
A fine perch!
A calm cove...
A historical building on a small island...

Tractor tourism
This sight met us when we came to work this morning:
These interesting vehicles had come all the way from Switzerland to Arvidjaur Tourist office!!! How many hours it must have taken to drive here...
Sometimes they stay and work along the way. Gas is not for free...
Little tractors from Switzerland
Happy owners

A visit to Slagnäs Camping which has new owners with big plans
Spring feelings
The weather forecast says that the warmth will arrive in Arvidsjaur this weekend. The spring is over and it is time for pasturage...here are some photos of the pets being set loose on May 29 last year:

The summer is made!

Ah, it is nice!

The baptism
The maiden voyage took place in one of the smallest creeks on earth, a stone's throw from home. Not the best idea, we realised when we had to carry the canoe more than half the way :)

One of many obstacles...
GPS trip

The view from Akkavare, the opposite direction of the usual view from Lillberget in the centre of Arvidsjaur.

Swans. You had to sneak up on them, they wanted to swim away. Mom, dad and baby swan.
When I saw this picture I thought that the baby should have left "home" already, so I went to wikipedia for a quick answer. Apparently the time the swans stay with their parents is different from case to case. Here is the piece of text:
" Whooper swans pair for life, and their cygnets stay with them all winter; they are sometimes joined by offspring from previous years. Their preferred breeding habitat is wetland, but semi-domesticated birds will build a nest anywhere close to water. Both the male and female help build the nest, and the male will stand guard over the nest while the female incubates. The female will usually lay 4-7 eggs (exceptionally 12). The cygnets hatch after about 36 days and have a grey or brown plumage. The cygnets can fly at an age of 120 to 150 days."
Interesting...
The firewood season is here...
It starts slowly, people get a certain wildness in the eyes, start to go straight home from work, a speck or two of sawdust show up on their clothes and you hear a word or two about firewood at the store. Then it is suddenly here: the firewood season! You become addicted to making firewood. Day in and day out you cut, split and pile until your back bleeds. Every now and then you take five minutes to walk along the piles with a tear of mingled pride and contentment in your eye...this goes on for a few weeks, then you notice a sudden drop in the wood addiction (often connected to the making of one year's supply of wood). And the madness is over as quickly as it begun. Until next year...
It brings tears to ones eyes...

Snowmobiling the weekend away...

What a view!

Is there anything more trying than walking uphill in deep snow in spring?

I like to call this picture "The triplets"...

A cloud of smoke...

Sometimes it's all good...

Sometimes it's not...

Into the sun...
At last, our own header...

The sun was shining, -20 degrees and a nice breeze. Couldn't feel my fingers after three pictures...

The sky was beautiful in this picture.
